Part of Xela AID's vision is to "profoundly enrich the lives of volunteers."
Toward this end, Xela AID offers Global Citizen Service Trips including a variety of service projects and a respite in Guatemala's most beautiful places (such as Lake Attitlan, Antigua, and Tikal).

(TRIP FULL) - March 14-23, 2014 (late-night departure)

"10-Days, 3-Volcanos" - CLIMB the progressively tougher volcanoes of Antigua, Xela, and Lago de Attitlan to benefit Xela AID. This trip is for the especially fit and their cheering section! Will include a day in the village of San Martín Chiquito where Xela AID is based. Contact

June 27-July 6, 2014 (late-night departure) - While it appears on the Common Application, please be advised that this trip will not take place this year. Thank you for choosing one of our other Xela AID experiences for 2014.

Trip Costs. For 2014, trips will be $1366 per person, including lodging, in-country coordination, many meals, admission to special attractions, in-country tips, project materials. Round-trip airfare to Guatemala City is not included, and normally ranges $450-$635 depending on point of origin and how early it is booked.

Current projects are being planned as Volunteers sign on. Spanish study is available. Optional activities will include soaking in volcanic hot baths, salsa lessions, and a trip to hear local music. The trips will include nights at Lake Atitlan and hiking, kayaking, with optional zip lining, and some time in Antigua.

If you believe that you would like to join us for one of these trips, we strongly suggest you hold space by contacting the person designated above. To confirm held space, a deposit of $500 is required. It should be sent to Xela AID, 111 W. Ocean Blvd., 4th Floor, Long Beach, CA 90804. Please note on your check: "2014 Trip Deposit."


More About the Trips and Past Trips: And No, You Don't Have To Know Spanish..
Each trip is tailored to the needs of the local community and the talents and interests of our volunteers. Past trips have included medical, optometry and dental clinics; construction, painting and repairs; horticulture and gardening; distribution of funds to sponsored children; participation in local classrooms including Xela AID's San Martin Tots Preschool and much more.

And you don't have to speak Spanish. In fact, Spanish Study is available.

All trips include R & R in places of extraordinary beauty, such as Lake Attitlan, Antigua, or Tikal.
