Xela Aid has responded to requests for assistance in a number of ways. With the help of partner organizations such as Direct Relief International, St. Matthew Catholic Church, the United Church of Christ of Claremont, Volunteer Optometrists Serving Humanity, the University of California at Santa Cruz, Pitzer College and many other secular and spiritually based organizations. Xela Aid has, in part:
 

  • Held free medical, optical and dental clinics that have served thousands of people
  • Provided extensive treatment to burn victims
  • Installed a medicinal herb garden to help reintroduce curative herbs lost in recent times
  • Provided preventative health care training [hygiene, re-hydration, fever reduction]
  • Fitted dozens of people for prosthetic arms and legs
  • Delivered nearly $6 million in medical equipment and supplies
  • Held a three-day woman's health and human rights seminar and continues to support women through support of micro-business and solidarity
  • Delivered hearing aids and means for therapy for deaf children
  • Funded a year of medical treatment for a young boy with arthritic psoriasis and affected a cure
  • Initiated a clean water system in a remote village
  • Designed, funded and constructed the June Russel-Glennon New Alliance Weaving and Midwives' Cooperative facility
  • Partnered to initiate a weaving cooperative that is helping a community to sustain itself; held international weaving events from 1997 through 2003
  • Designed, funded and constructed a clinic/community and education center [2004] [Ongoing, see CLINIC]
  • Built a school [1994] and a school addition [2004] now serving more than 500 children [as of July, 2006]
  • Sponsored more than 50 children to help guarantee their ability to stay in school [Ongoing, see PEX]
  • Sponsored 26 women for literacy training
  • Began operating a pre-school [attended by 34 children as of the fall, 2005]
